Winning: not mere achievment of target

“The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. That's the essence of it.”
― Vince Lombardi

To many people, winning is just like feeling of having achieved something or having secured a position somewhere. For me, its more than mere fulfilling the target. Putting in my own words, victory is the delicious food for which a person hungry for a long duration of time. Once, this apatite for victory is lost, the whole purpose of life is gone.
Unlike other creatures, human beings have some goals and some targets to meet in the life. He feels winner when he gets that target or goal. But once this target is achieved, his victory prompts him to fix another new target in his life. Thus, his apatite for victory is never over in the life. His victory also reminds him of the confidence he has to conquer the hurdles he has in his path.
For a gold medalist at the Olympics, his medal reminds him of his perspiration and dedication, with which he played the game. That is not just a medal but also a symbol of his capability and symbol of his hard work. Even in the biggest of his losses that he may face in the future that very symbol brings a smile on his face and prompts him to say that:

" Yes, I can do it. I am not born to be defeated"
